Galvosil 15780
A two-component, medium-zinc, self-curing inorganic zinc silicate primer designed for long-life protection of steel structures in moderately to severely corrosive environments. It provides galvanic protection, outstanding corrosion resistance, and long-term durability, even at elevated service temperatures.
Description
Type:
Inorganic Zinc Silicate Primer (Medium Zinc)
Volume:
20 Ltrs (Base 15789 : Zinc 97170, mixed 4.2:5.8 by weight)
Category:
Zinc Silicate Primer / Heavy-Duty Protective Coating
Usage:
Galvosil 15780 is recommended as a general-purpose rust-preventing primer for structural steel exposed to moderately to severely corrosive environments. It complies with SSPC-Paint 20, Type 1, Level 2 standards. The coating provides excellent long-term protection against corrosion through its zinc-rich formulation, making it suitable for use as a single-coat primer or as part of high-performance protective systems. It offers continuous dry heat resistance up to 540°C, with recommended dry film thickness of 50 µm per coat (range 50–80 µm) and a theoretical spreading rate of 12 m²/litre at 50 µm DFT. It dries to touch in 15 minutes at 20°C, fully cures in 16 hours, and has a pot life of 4 hours at 20°C.
Applications:
Recommended for structural steel, bridges, offshore structures, pipelines, tank exteriors, and refineries requiring long-term corrosion and weathering resistance. It is particularly suitable for use in high-temperature dry service conditions and can also be overcoated with approved topcoats in multi-layer systems for extended protection.
